Planting for the Future

The We Are What We Eat students planted flower bulbs today, which we hope will be visible for everyone walking to Coriolis next February, bringing early spring cheer.

Wayside flowers

I choose this photo because I really liked the little flowers by the wayside. They bring colors in this garden. It reminds the nature grow naturally everywhere it can. Text and photo by Typhaine.

Free time

I’m looking at a rotten tomato. Although it still looks juicy, I wouldn’t eat it. Next to it, there are small colourful plants. I don’t know what they are. However, they’re really cute. I’m still looking for snails but I don’t find any for now. Maybe it’s not rainy enough. Now let’s talk about that tree with these small pointy fruits. Their texture is quite funny and although it doesn’t look like so when you look from far away, it’s quite gluey in it. It is super hard too.
Now I just took a bite in an apple. It was good, but it’s a little too acidic. Therefore, I put it in the recycling thing for a compost.
Now let’s take a look at these little bushes. They look like really tiny Christmas trees but at the same time they are much smaller and seem to grow differently in terms of roots. I come from the south of France (Provence) and it reminds me of the small bushes we have in the hills where I go to run.
I love the fact that we are going in the garden to be closer to nature, especially after so many yeas in prépa where I didn’t have the time to pay attention to such things.
Thank you teacher for suggesting us to take apples to make apple sauce. Although I haven’t made it yet, I found recipes online to make some. I just need to free up some time to do so. Text and photo by Baptiste.

Fall flowers

« Some flowers are surprising us by blooming in fall instead of spring. » Text and photo by Antoine.

Hylotelephium telephium

While walking around the garden, I noticed some flowers that truly caught my eye. Their name is Hylotelephium telephium. I loved the vibrant pink color, which stands out so beautifully against the green leaves surrounding them. I also admire how the different plants work together to create such a colorful and lively scene. Text and photo by Emilie.

Virginia Asters

With the end of summer come beautiful flowers. These Virginia asters are an invasive species, but they bring to our garden delicate shades of purple just as the cold winds begin to blow. They invite us to explore nature between two classes! Text and photo by Emilie.

Apples

As you can see in the picture below, it’s an apple hiding behind the leaves , protecting its beauty and its sweet taste, but those means of defense wasn’t enough to grab that apple and take a bite and to be honest, it tastes so good especially when you take directly from the tree along with the dirt. Fruit

Fruit is one of the best things in the world, they give you nutrition and healthiness, a sweet touch for your day, that’s why you must get happy if you can see a fruit growing in a plant, because it is a miracle of nature how that amazing thing grow up from the earth and is available to us. Tomatoes

Three vibrant, natural tomatoes peeking from beneath the green leaves, hidden from plain sight. You have to look closely, bending down and exploring the garden, to discover their bright red glow. A small treasure of freshness, waiting patiently to be spotted and appreciated. Text and photo by Malek.

Stachys

The leaves of stachys are incredibly soft. I was very surprised at first as I had never seen a plant like this. Later, I found stachys somewhere else, in the middle of the street. This experience taught me to be more aware of the nature around me. Surprises are everywhere! Text and photo by Sylvie.
