Dandelion

Oh look, a dandelion! It must be the last one of the season… What a great food source for pollinators even though they don’t get the love they deserve from gardeners. (text and photo by Bartholome)

Onion squash

This onion squash is definitely the minor miracle of this garden. Plump and good-looking, bathed in the sun, it is pampered by all the visitors who manage to find it. Even the green leaves around are making sure the squash get enough attention. I really like its vivid orange colour reminding us that summer has already given way to autumn. (text and photo by Léa)

Lemon Balm

Lemon balm looks a lot like mint. But if you take the time to smell it you won’t make the mistake because of its strong lemon scent. Lemon balm spreads quite quickly and is now all over the jardin Pontanique ! If you want to help stem its proliferation, you can come gather some to use as aroma for cooking. Egopode

Egopode, a Greek plant that is easily found in garden. They love semi-shaded environments in the forest, bloom from June throughout the summer. But be careful to introduce them into your beautiful garden, they would fast colonize the whole area. (photo and text by Lana)

Rosemary

Rosemary is a wonderful plant for a lot of reasons. First, it smells really good, when you walk near it, you can just grab some leaves and grind them dish for a good taste. (With the beginning of spring, it will bloom and it is the best moment to harvest rosemary). by Matéo

Oreilles du lapin

While wandering in the garden, I found this plant… It reminded my of one time at my grandparents’ house, when I was younger, because there was the same one. My granny explained to me that it was called « oreilles de lapin » (bunny’s ears) and I never knew if that was it’s real name. After some digging, it appears that it’s from the Stachys byzantina species and in English it’s called « lamb’s ear » so that solves the mystery! by Sixtine

The elephant

I really appreciate this plant, not because it is green, such as the biggest part of the garden, but because it really has the shape of an elephant, with the trunk, the ears on both sides, and his huge body behind. It reminds me an Elmer stuffed elephant that my sister offered me when I was I child. Great memories!

Lemon balm

As the big eater I am, I ate two or three leaves of our lemon balm to prepare my belly for lunch… So delicious ! The taste and smell are easily recognizable, and the lemon aftertaste makes me wonder if I should not grow it at home and use it in all my meals… Photo and caption by Victor
